Good Shepherd Garden Harvest

Have you checked out the Good Shepherd garden recently? It is a beautiful burst of color in our front yard. Dalias, pumpkins, tomatoes, peppers and green grapes are among the visual and gustatory pleasures that greet the happy wanderer who takes a minute to stroll there. Our garden, however, is not only a visual gift, it is a gift of good nutrition and good taste for the families that visit the Thurston County Food Bank satellite held here at Good Shepherd the fourth Friday of each month. Last week's harvest included 8 pounds 10 ounces of jalapeno and green peppers, 7 pounds 12 ounces of Roma tomatoes, and 3 pounds 9 ounces of cherry tomatoes that were distributed to 100 hungry families for whom English is not the first language. Thanks to the growers, the weeders, the waterers, the pickers, the packers, the distributors, the translators, and the Thurston County Food Bank for making this gift of neighbor love possible!
