LENTEN PILGRIMAGE 2025

March 2 through April 27

St. John|San Juan Episcopal Church in Olympia and The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd will share in worshipping together several times during and before/after Lent, as well as swapping sanctuaries during five Sunday mornings of Lent. The goal of this pilgrimage together is to build our partnerships in ministry. Below is an overview of the worship schedule and locations for Joint Worship, Shared Gatherings, “Sunday Sanctuary Swap”, and other Lenten worship gatherings at Good Shepherd.

Sunday, March 2 – At St. John|SanJuan Episcopal – 114 20th Ave SE, Olympia (off Capitol Way)

  • 9:30 am* Forum – “From Olympia Commons to Lenten Pilgrimage”

  • 10:30 am* Worship – Transfiguration Sunday, Holy Communion, Preacher: Joey Ager, Director for Evangelical Mission, Southwestern Washington Synod, ELCA. *Note: The forum and worship times are 30 minutes later than Good Shepherd’s usual times.

  • 7 pm Worship – Maundy Thursday, Holy Communion, Foot Washing, Stripping of the Altar, Short Reflections by Rev. Janet Waggoner and Pastor Carol Tomer

Friday, April 18 – At The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd

  • 7 pm Worship – Good Friday, A Contemplative Service of Music and Meditation, Based on Christ’s Seven Last Words

Wednesdays, March 12, 19, & 26, April 2 & 9 – At The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd

  • 5:15-6:15 pm Soup Suppers

  • 6:15-6:45 pm Midweek Lenten Worship — The evening prayer liturgy is Bless This Night, created by the Holden Village community in 2023. Each service will also include a time of prayer around the cross, in the style of Holden Village.

  • 9 am & 11 am Worship – Festival Service of Holy Communion, All-Sing Hallelujah Chorus, Pastor Bergen Eickhoff preaching. Easter fellowship and treats following both worship services
