Fall Fellowship and Faith Groups

A variety of fellowship and faith group gatherings have been planned for the fall season. Space is limited for some groups, so don’t miss out and sign up now! A sign-up poster is located in the entry area of the church. Please sign up by Sunday, September 15. If you are unable to sign up in person at the church, you can email Julie Armbruster by September 15 and let her know what group you'd like to sign up for at jmwa81@earthlink.net. Additional information about each gathering will be emailed after the sign-ups have been completed. Below are details about each gathering:

Community in Nature: Hosted by Susan Berry and Hannah Tauriainen (Max attendees: No max)

Enjoy each other’s company and the great outdoors through beautiful (and easy) fall hikes, 3-5 miles or so in length and close to Olympia. Hike with us as your schedule allows: once, twice or all three times. Meet at the church parking lot to carpool, or meet at the trail head. Directions will be sent in advance by email. You may contact Susan at susanjberry@comcast.net and Hannah at akfinngirl@me.com.

9 am on Thursday, September 19, Saturday October 19, and Saturday November 30.

Poetry + Coffee: Hosted by Rob Kemp (Max attendees 10)

Come enjoy reading and reacting to some poetry over a nice, edifying cup of coffee! Each meeting will have a different theme: faith, nature, and joy. Some poems will be provided to begin with, but by all means, bring some of your own favorites for each theme! Each meeting will feature one or two different coffees from small roasteries from around the Western U.S. If you don’t like coffee, fear not, other beverages will be provided to whet your whistle!

Saturdays, 10 am, September 28, October 12, November 9 at the Kemp Family Farm in SE Olympia

Mystery and Meditation: Hosted by Julie Armbruster and Rosie & Egils Macs (Max attendees 10 )

What is Christian contemplation? Who are long-ago and modern-day mystics? What can they teach us about Divine Presence and our relationship with God? We will begin the evening with a light potluck meal, share short readings as prompts for discussion, and end with a meditation. Please bring a simple dish and your curiosity! Beverages will be provided.

Saturdays, 5 pm-7 pm, September 21, October 19, November 16 at the Armbruster Residence in SE, Olympia

Food, Climate and Social Justice: Hosted by Scott & Bethany Davis (Max attendees 12)

With a population of 8.2 billion people and growing, is there a sustainable way to feed the world and combat global warming? This group will explore how our world’s food systems relate to climate change, human health, and social justice. Come join us as we learn, discuss, and research ways we can conscientiously align our dietary choices to optimize our eco-impact, reflect our Christian values, and even ‘save the world!’ Includes a book study of Food is Climate by Glen Merzer (please purchase or download a copy). Sundays, 5 pm – 7:30 pm
