BSA Scout Sunday 2024

Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 266 and Cub Scout Pack 266 are excited to worship with you on this day! There are many celebrations at Good Shepherd, and one of them is National BSA Scout Sunday. We come together to worship and give thanks to God.

1 Corinthians 3:9, states “For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” Cub Scout Pack 266 and Troop 266 appreciate the co-workers of Good Shepherd as scouts learn valuable lessons in service to God and to the community. Scouts in the Pack and Troop have helped the community in small and big ways. Each group participates in community service projects from helping at the Food Bank to collecting food and hygiene products for school’s pantries that help homeless students. The Pack and Troop have done several conservation projects in the community. We are indeed co-workers in God’s service!

We are happy to be celebrating the 114th birthday of Boy Scouts of America, plus 64 years of continuous Cub Scouting at Good Shepherd and 35 years of continuous Troop-level scouting at Good Shepherd. Currently there are 36 scouts registered with Pack 266, ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade and 31 scouts registered with Troop 266, ranging from 6th grade to Seniors in high school. As each scout learns more and more about service to God and others, they are all striving to earn the highest honor of scouting, the Eagle Scout Rank. In the last 35 years, 206 scouts have earned the Eagle Scout Rank in Troop 266. These individuals not only learned service, but showed that service by creating their own service project and leading the project. On average, only 4% of registered scouts earn the Eagle Scout Rank, so this is a rare and special group of scouts!

These individuals will be wonderful co-workers among the community of Good Shepherd and beyond. The scouting values learned and shared at weekly scout meetings, strengthen youth character in the scout’s family, community, and faith. Scouts uphold the values by being reverent in their personal life and respecting other religions. That is why scouts join with Jewish Scouts who celebrate Scout Shabbat and Muslim Scouts who celebrate Scout Jamuah.

Thank you, Good Shepherd, for your continuous support by being co-workers in God’s service for the scouting community!
