Advocacy 101

The Good Shepherd Climate Shepherds and Mercy and Justice Ministry teams recently held a Forum in Crary Hall to share easy ways of advocating in 2023 legislative bills (in person, by phone or online), staying informed as bills come up, and more. Here’s a link to the information that was shared to help guide you on your own personal advocacy efforts: Advocacy 101 Information.

Join the Climate Shepherds and the Mercy and Justice Ministry Teams as we learn how to speak out and influence laws to protect God’s Creation and help people. An opportunity to live out your faith and influence state laws for human justice, climate action and more! Living in Olympia, we have easy access to the Capitol and our legislators, but picking up a phone or sending an email also works and is easier, yet. Join the team! We’ll support each other and arm ourselves with resources to call for laws that make our state better for all!

Good Shepherd at FAN Interfaith Advocacy Day

Members of Good Shepherd, as part of FAN (Faith Action Network) spent all day at the Capitol for FAN Interfaith Advocacy Day on February 9, 2023 where they spent the day learning about current social justice legislation, then lobbying state legislators directly (in small legislative district groups) to urge passage through our personal stories and facts.

Help Stock Pepper’s Pantry at Olympia High School

The Mercy & Justice Team (Hunger) would like our congregation members to help stock Pepper's Food Pantry at Olympia High School.  The Food Pantry is a Special Ed project giving food out to students before first class so students who are hungry can stop by and pick up some food on their way to class.  This helps hungry students focus on school rather than on their hunger.
