ASTP-001

A Message from ASTP Director Jennifer Meyer

Some of you may know that Rebecca Rogers, Assistant Director for the After School Tutoring Program (ASTP), is on medical leave due to knee surgery and recovery. It is with deep regret that, due to unforeseen health concerns, I also need to take medical leave for the month of February and first two weeks of March. Unfortunately, that means we need to temporarily close the tutoring program Monday, February 5 through Thursday, March 15, 2018.

You don’t need to worry about me. I am going to be fine, but prefer not to talk about specifics of my leave. Please know that I came to this difficult decision after much thought and considerable consultation with members of the ASTP Advisory Committee. I personally feel like I’m letting down our students, all the volunteers who have committed to serving our students and you, the congregation who supports the ASTP ministry. However, the committee and I believe the best decision is to temporarily suspend program operation.

Students’ families, volunteers, and schools received notification of this temporary closure and all have been extremely understanding and supportive. Rebecca and I will both return the week of Monday, March 19, 2018. We both appreciate your prayers and support.
