Have you ever wanted your own garden but didn’t have the space or time to dig it up and water it as often as it is needed? This growing season we invite you to Pick a Patch. It’s a chance to contribute to the wellbeing of the earth, yourself, and the Thurston County Food Bank.
There is a poster in the Narthex showing a map of the garden along with a few printed copies. Take a look at the map and see where you want to plant. Some areas are already planted for the Food Bank and there is a plot for tomatoes from the Armbrusts. All you need to do is let Leif Lantz or the Armbrusts know of your selected spot and plant it. The garden’s watering system is on a schedule, so you do not need to do that. Just plant, weed, harvest, and enjoy the bounty! All we ask is that you give a portion of your produce to the Food Bank. They suggest root vegetables, carrots, beets and greens like kale, mustard greens spinach, chard and the like, as well as winter squash and herbs.
Please contact the church office at 360-357-3554 for contact information for the Armbrusts or the Lantz’s.
