SWWA Gathering 1But GROW in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18

We are each on a Faith Journey and continually formed through the Holy Spirit. Faith formation at The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd encompasses Worship, Sunday Education Hour, Confirmation, Bible studies, service projects and trips, and fellowship times for all ages.

Sunday Morning Education Hour

Middle School Bible Study: 9:50-10:50  downstairs in Shepherd’s Corner

Affirmation of Faith (6-8 grade)

Sunday afternoon from 4-5:30  downstairs in Shepherd’s Corner.

At Good Shepherd, we set aside the middle school years for intentional conversations about what it means to be a follower of Jesus, moving the student to make a public affirmation of their desire to continue to follow Jesus—what we call Affirmation of Faith.

At baptism, adults (parents, guardians, relatives, sponsors) made promises on behalf of the child. Over all these years since that baptism, it’s been the adults’ job to keep these promises as best as they can. During Confirmation we spend three years learning how to do these things and keep these promises. Then during the Affirmation of Baptism (a.k.a. Confirmation Sunday) it’s up to the youth to take on these promises.

We’re very excited to be part of this three year journey or exploration. Like every great trip, it takes some planning, preparation, and hard work. We highly encourage and recommend that families invest in this formative time in their student’s life and walk with them on this journey. We hope that the experience in Confirmation will be one of learning, reflection, relationship building, and faith formation. If you have particular questions, concerns, or thoughts please contact Pastor Amy prior to the beginning of class.
