Houston has a Problem

2018 ELCA Youth Gathering, June 27-July 1, 2018, in Houston, TX

Last week we watched Houston be battered by the rains and flooding of Hurricane Harvey. It has only strengthened our resolve and our call to go to Houston next summer to lend our hands in prayer, service, and love.

Registration for the Youth Gathering opens September 15. All 8 -12th graders are encouraged to be part of this life-changing trip, to find out more please join us at a meeting on September 10 at 12:15 in Room 160.

From the Gulf Coast Synod: As people of faith, please continue to pray. Pray for first responders, for those who had to evacuate flooded homes, for people worried about family, and for those who are trying to pick up the pieces. Remember, financial gifts are more helpful than gifts of goods right now. Financial resources are portable and used for many different purposes. Consider donating to Lutheran Disaster Response (for case management). Many insurance agencies don’t offer flood insurance to churches in the Gulf region.

You can help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey by making a donation to Lutheran Disaster Response. Pick up a blue flier from the Welcome Desk or visit ELCA.org/disaster.
