Faith Formation Fall Kick-off

Here at Good Shepherd we operate on a few different calendars. We’ve got the Church Year, the Calendar Year, the Fiscal Year, and the School Year. And right now, we’re looking at the School Year and saying “Yay! It’s time for Sunday School & Bible Study again!”

We want to offer opportunities for all ages, sometimes together, and sometimes in different rooms. It’s important to our Faith Community to learn and grow together!

This fall we’re continuing to use the WHIRL! Curriculum for Sunday School. Whirl brings kids into the life of the church with a fun, lectionary-centered curriculum for preK through grade 5. On the first and third Sundays, kids and leaders will meet in the Sanctuary for a Group Opening. Then they’ll head to their classrooms to watch an animated video to set up the lesson. Next, they’ll dive into the Bible story together, respond to the scripture lesson with creative leaflet activities, and circle up to review the lesson and pray before being sent out.

Our Middle & High Schoolers meet for Youth Bible Study on the first and third Sundays beginning at 9:50 across the parking lot in Shepherd’s Corner.

On the second and fourth Sundays all of the Sunday School and Youth Bible Study Students will meet together for a large group activity and the Bible Story.

The Adult Forum series will begin with three sessions focused on Caring for Creation, including guests from Carbon Free Olympia and Stream Team. Then in October, we’ll begin By Heart, an in-depth study of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. The forums take place in Rm 160 beginning at 9:50.

The Adult Bible Study will be The Book of Acts – for Everybody.

Pr. Knutzen will pick up where he left off last spring at Luke’s account of Paul’s second missionary journey.  Paul is on his way to Ephesus and will soon return to Jerusalem and then on to Rome in the final several chapters of Luke’s account of life in the early Christian church.

This class will meet in room 219 beginning at 9:50.

We hope that wherever you are on your journey of faith that you will find a place to wonder, learn, and respond here at Good Shepherd.
