“Black dots on white paper!” are the words spoken by a friend who was giving some consideration to joining our choir. We do have choir members who are not music readers. They learn the parts by being a partner with a member who has a strong voice. Other members may have a college music major degree. So the skill set is really wide. The bottom line is that our church choir is open to all singers who would like to take part in our worship services.
From September to mid-June, the Chancel Choir provides music for our worship service at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 in the Sanctuary. The church choir is on vacation during the summer.
The Chancel Choir will present several seasonal anthems during our Christmas Eve service. We also contribute to the Thanksgiving Eve Service, and our Holy Week and Easter Sunday services.
There are no auditions. The only requirements are:
• the desire to become a part of a vital and committed group
• the willingness to have some fun as music is prepared
• the willingness to share your gift of music
Long term and short term commitments are welcome. Join us for Christmas, Easter, or for a given month. The choice is yours.
